RESERVATIONS A CURSE

Now a days so many people are expressing there views about the proposal of our respected ministers for reservations in esteemed educational institutions like the IIT’s and IIM’s that if we read all we still have something to say. I have just tried to take the god points from both the courts of the “game of reservations”.
Some people in the favor of reservations (though considerably few in number) say that the backward castes are underprivileged and they “lack the funds and opportunities” and they and the whole Indian civilization got divided on the basis of castes and the backward castes are still harassed. Thus they should be granted reservations to help them thrive.
But now the social scenario has changed from what it was fifty five years back. Then it were the SC’s ,ST’s and the OBC’s who were harassed but now it’s the economically backward people who are suffering and the are not only the backward castes that the government is taking under consideration .Similarly there are quite a number of backward castes people with ability at top notch positions.
Our ministers also say that this amendment is because of the “lack of opportunities”. So Why only the backward castes it should be for all below poverty line people since not all economically backward people are from the backward castes.
Though the whole idea of having reservations is wrong on the whole. Since if everything is given without work they won’t ever bother to work. Instead they should be given opportunities such as free tuitions ,books ,scholarships etc. and not to the backward castes but economically backward people. We should strive for worthy professionals and not caste-worthy ones. Please Mr. Minister let us thrive like the banyan tree with a sound foundation instead of making us parasites which any wind can blow off. Let us be proud of our own capabilities and not caste capabilities.
